A DC motor works on the principle of Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.
the direction of the force is given by Fleming's left hand rule.
Lenz's law states that the induced current produces a magnetic field that opposes the motion that caused the induced current.
the important characteristics of dc motor are
1. Torque Vs armature current. -Electrical characteristics
2. Speed Vs armature current
3.Speed Vs armature torque.-Mechanical characteristics

the characteristics is drawn for shunt motor, series motor and compound motor.
