When should you spray weeds in your switchgrass. On first year plantings of switchgrass it's best to wait until the switchgrass has 4-5 new blades coming off the main stem. Using 1 qt/acre of weed killer like 2,4-D is a good choice for broadleafs in first year switchgrass stands.
2 qts/acre in taller more mature stands. 2,4-D has a residual effect in the soil after applying it.
