Chinese couple reunites with abducted son after 14 years, suspects arrested

Sun Haiyang comes from Jianli, Hubei province

Sun Zhuo, his son was born in 2003

In 2007, the family moved to Shenzhen to run a steamed-bun shop

On Oct 9, 2007, Sun Zhuo was abducted by a man while playing in front of his home at dusk

Sun Haiyang and his wife kept searching for their son since then

They offered a 200,000-yuan ($31,360) reward for finding the boy

Sun Haiyang also helped other parents search for their missing children, working with the police and media

Sun Haiyang's story was the basis of the 2014 movie Dearest, directed by Peter Chan Ho-sun and starring Huang Bo and Zhang Yi

In a Weibo post, Zhang congratulated the family on their reunion

Shenzhen spent huge efforts on the case

In October, police located a man from Yanggu county, Shandong province, who they suspected had abducted Sun Zhuo

Meanwhile, a young man who was similar in appearance to the childhood photos of Sun Zhuo was also found

DNA tests confirmed that the young man was Sun Zhuo

From Jan to Nov, 2021, public security bodies resolved 290-plus child abduction cases, arrested more than 690 suspects and found 8,307 children
