A new scheme, providing 999 callers with access to specialist care during the most crucial minutes of a cardiac arrest, is now live throughout the east of England.
East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) is piloting the, scheme, which is a first for the UK, provides members of the public with support from advanced paramedics during cardiac arrest calls.
During the call, the ambulance control room will contact bystanders via the GoodSAM video platform. This allows them to assess the situation visually and deliver patient-specific advice.
They can then provide and expert guidance on providing effective cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the ambulance crew arrives.
