How to teach the F Sound with Children

The "F" sound typically comes around 2-3 years of age.
If your child is not using the "f" sound by 3 years of age it might be a good idea to see a speech pathologist to see if they need some support with their speech sounds.
I call the 'f' sound the "bunny" sound as you need your front teeth to show and sit on your bottom lip like a bunny rabbit.
Children love this strategy and then we practice making a blowing sound for "ffffffff" this is the "bunny sound" and later I will call it "F" and have pictures of f and draw that on a piece of paper and even put it in their communication book.
I use minimal pairs as ONE way to teach speech sounds and help shape phonological processes (consistent speech errors that occur with different sounds but in a regular, predictable pattern)
