This video features another of Lancasters musical talents, Bobby Troup. He is a family favorite. In the 1930's, my then teenage mother attended dances at the Lancaster YWCA. Bobby was also there. She and her girlfriends enjoyed him.
Today, I interviewed my 93 year old mom and got the details. Whenever she danced with Bobby, It was wonderful. He was a terrific dancer. He was good looking, well groomed, polite, with proper manners.
One of moms friends ( earlier confided ) that during his later career - Bobby would return to Lancaster when he needed money. Bobbys dad and family operated the Troup Music Store for over half a century.
Bobby was a gifted composer, arranger, and musician. In addition to writing Daddy, his most famous work was Route 66'. He also created many pop tunes. Tommy Dorseys recording of his Snooty Little Cutie, ( featuring Frank Sinatra ) is a great example of this.
In his later years, in spite of his many tv appearances, probably his most rememberable accomplishment was marrying Julie London.
Since, I havent created my own video, I added this as another local historic music test
