As part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) in association with Network for Fish Quality Management and Sustainable Fishing (NETFISH), State Fisheries Departments, Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) and other stakeholders organised a nation-wide event along with Fishers & their fishing vessels with the theme “Responsible Fishing for Sustainable Future“ on 26.09.2021.
The event was celebrated in the 9 fishing harbours in the 9 maritime states involving 75 fishing boats and 750 fishers. The fishing harbours were Veraval – Gujarat, Sassoon Dock – Maharashtra, Malim – Goa, Mangalore – Karnataka, Thoppumpady – Kerala, Chinnamuttom - Tamil Nadu, Visakhapatnam - Andhra Pradesh, Paradeep - Odisha & Petuaghat - West Bengal.
