දොඩන්තලේ රජමහාවිහාරය ලංකාවේ අවසාන රජමහාවිහාරය ලෙස සැලකෙන්නේ සිංහලේ අවසන් රජු වූ ශ්රි වික්රමරාජසිංහ රජු විසින් ප්රදානය කරනලද සන්නසකින් විහාරයක් බවට පත්වීමට අමතරව මොල්ලිගොඩ අදිකාරම වටා ගෙතුණු ජනප්රවාද රාශියක්ද කරුණු කොටගෙනයි.නුවරයුගයේ චිත්රවලින් අලංකෘත මේ විහාරය සොල්දර විහාර ගණයට වැටෙන ලංකාවේ ඇති විහාර දහයකට අඩු සංඛ්යාවෙන් එකකි.කාලයාගේ ඇවෑමෙන් විනාශ මුඛයට යමින් පවතින මේ විහාරය නැරඹීමටත් වන්දනාමාන කිරීමටත් යාමට ඔබටත් ආරාධනා..
Dodantale Rajamaha Viharaya is regarded as the last Rajamaha Viharaya in Sri Lanka. This recognition is based not only on the fact that it was elevated to the status of a temple by a royal decree (Sannasa) granted by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, the last king of the Sinhala kingdom, but also on the many legends associated with Molligoda Adikaram.
Adorned with paintings from the Kandyan era, this temple belongs to the “Soldara Vihara” category and is one of fewer than ten such temples remaining in Sri Lanka.
As the temple is gradually falling into a state of decay with the passage of time, you are warmly invited to visit and pay homage to this historic site.
