At age 101, President Russell M. Nelson, President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a world-renowned heart surgeon, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, eight children, 57 grandchildren and more than 100 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sister Dantzel Nelson, and two of his daughters.
Russell Marion Nelson was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sept. 9, 1924.
He recently celebrated his 101st birthday with family and friends — making him the oldest president in the history of the Church.
