Low and middle-income earners are set to benefit from tax relief as the government moves to ease the cost-of-living burden on salaried workers. National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi says the government plans to abolish income tax for employees earning below 30,000 shillings per month, while reducing Pay As You Earn rates for those earning up to 50,000 shillings. The measures he says are aimed at increasing disposable income and stimulating consumer spending.
