▶ "Loose Ends” is one of the most shocking and emotional missions in the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
In this mission, the player takes control of Roach, fighting alongside Ghost and Task Force 141. Their objective is to raid Makarov’s safehouse in the Caucasus Mountains, eliminate enemy forces, and retrieve critical intelligence from his computer using a DSM (Data Storage Module). While the data is being downloaded, the team must defend the position against heavy enemy attacks.
After successfully securing the DSM, Roach and Ghost move toward the extraction point. However, the mission takes a dark turn when General Shepherd arrives and betrays them. Shepherd shoots both Roach and Ghost, takes the DSM, and burns their bodies to erase all evidence — literally “tying up loose ends.
This betrayal becomes a major turning point in the story of Modern Warfare 2 and sets the stage for the final act of the campaign, where the truth about Shepherd is revealed and revenge begins.
