Thankfully, these beasts I've brought along to Dunsfold are fine examples of the latter – carefully fettled by the guys at RacingLine Performance to show just what is possible with the Golf R platform when carried out properly.
Featured in this video are a stock Mk8.5 Golf R Black Edition (with Performance Pack), as well as RacingLine's Mk7 Golf R with 427bhp, and finally, RacingLine's Mk8 Golf R with a huge 550bhp!
