Only 25minutes away by ferry from Townsville, in North Queensland Australia, Magnetic Island's relaxed tropical lifestyle, quiet, secluded beaches, rugged nature, abundant wildlife and easy access to the Great Barrier Reef make it a wonderful place to relax and unwind for locals like us but also many overseas visitors.

Magnetic Island was named by James Cook in 1770 when the island appeared to affect the magnetic compass on his ship.

The main areas of the island are Horseshoe Bay, Arcadia/Alma Bay, Nelly Bay, and Picnic Bay and are all briefly featured in this video as well as a few others.

We only spent a few hours there to briefly show some family holidaying from abroad the island’s main attractions, however, there are so many more activities on offer including hiking, horse riding, snorkelling, scuba diving, wildlife spotting etc. Many festivals are also held all year round, including the famous Full Moon Down Under party every month.
