Visit to Marfo-Mariinsky convent, as tribute to Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna. 18 July, 1918.

Описание: 18 July, 1918. Alapaevsk.  Mother Superior Elizaveta, former Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, along with her novice Varvara and a group of grand dukes, are brought into the woods, shot and thrown into an old mine, by the local Bolsheviks.

This video is my tribute to the grand duchess, on the 102st anniversary of her murder.

Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, sister of Alexandra Feodorovna, the last Empress of Russia, founded Marfo-Mariinsky
 convent in 1908 to assist sick, wounded, and maimed soldiers in their recovery, and to provide for the needs of the poor and orphans.

It was shut down during the Soviet regime,  but kept more or less intact for various uses, and was reopened as convent after the fall of the USSR.

In December of 2016, I came to Moscow and one of the places to visit on my list was this convent. Please join me on this tour of Grand Duchess Elizabeth's creation, which is once again helping those less fortunate, a century later.
