Jennifer lived with stage 4 ovarian cancer and on August 19, 2024, she sadly passed away from this disease. It was Jennifer’s wish for her Ovaries. Talk About Them. Film to be shown and her story shared, and we write this in honour of her. Our hearts and prayers go out to Jennifer’s family and loved ones.

For Jennifer, her diagnosis came swiftly – stage four ovarian cancer. Newly married, and back from her honeymoon, she noticed bloating but put it down to a long honeymoon period. She and her husband were dreaming of filling their three-bedroom house with children. The news shattered Jennifer's dreams of a family.

Prior to her diagnosis, Jennifer was in the peak of her life and career – she had just received a major promotion as Director of National Australia Bank, married her life partner of over 10 years, and enjoyed an amazing honeymoon in Europe.

When she returned from her honeymoon, she noticed she had gained some weight and bloating, however thought nothing of it and related this symptom back to great food during her month in Europe. Jennifer and her partner started to proactively try to fall pregnant and start their family. After months of trying, Jennifer was not falling pregnant, so she decided to get everything checked and understand why.

Jennifer had a history of benign ovarian cysts, so a pelvic ultrasound was completed by her doctor as a precaution. After ovarian cysts were discovered, further tests were requested and later she was advised to see a gynaecological oncologist, but she was hopeful that her cysts were benign, it was a precautionary measure, and she could start a family.
