With this piano tutorial & sheet music, you can play "Scarborough Fair / Canticle" by Simon & Garfunkel on piano!

It's a carefully created piano arrangement of the beautiful ballad.

Simon & Garfunkel first recorded "Scarborough Fair" for their 1966 album "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme".

The duo famously performed the song at their Central Park concert in September 1981 (which became their first live album - "The Concert in Central Park").

"Scarborough Fair" is not only a beautiful folk ballad, but also rhythmically interesting - the guitar accompaniment is clearly in a 6/8 pattern, but in many bars, the vocal melody feels more like a 3/4 rhythm. So even though both of these time signatures have technically the same length, there's this feeling of constant rhythmic change...

I used both the studio recording and the live version as a basis for my arrangement.
Overall, I often found myself going for the more "simple" approach of the live performance (e.g. leaving out the additional in-between-vocals of the studio version), which allows the interesting guitar patterns to take more room.

Definitely fell in love with this song while I was working on it.
