What you got for me Meganeuropsis. Identify yourself? Let’s cut to the chase, the Meganeurppsis is a giant dragonfly. The extinct genus of griffinfly is the biggest known insect of all time and was thought to live 299-272 million years ago in North America. Two genus’ have been discovered....the Meganeruopsis permiana which was discovered in Kansas. It had a wing length of 13 inches, or 33 centimetres... and a wingspan of 70 centimetres, or 28 inches. Head to tail its body length was 43 centimetres – 17 inches. A slightly smaller version – the Meganeuropsis Americana was found in Oklaholma. If you’re struggling with visualizing what that might look like – here is a fossil image for you..... buuut the money shot is this to scale reconstruction sitting on the hand of a human BIG. BUG. Big flying bug.
