After Bihar, the SIR process of the voter list is being carried out in 12 other states and union territories. Regarding this, the Supreme Court has issued a major directive to the Election Commission and has also assured the petitioners that the entire SIR process could be canceled. Just as the Election Commission was brought under the court’s scrutiny in Bihar, now political parties such as the Congress, TMC, DMK, and CPI(M) have also dragged the Commission to court again. The Supreme Court has now begun a major hearing on the SIR process, the outcome of which is likely to impact the SIR procedure being conducted across the country.
बिहार के बाद 12 राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों में SIR यानी वोटर लिस्ट रिवीजन की प्रक्रिया चलायी जा रही है। इसको लेकर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चुनाव आयोग को बड़ा आदेश दे डाला है और साथ ही याचिकाकर्ताओं को आश्वासन दे डाला कि पूरी SIR प्रक्रिया रद्द की जा सकती है।
दरअसल जिस तरह बिहार में चुनाव आयोग को अदालत के कटघरे में खड़ा कर दिया गया। इसी तरह कांग्रेस, TMC, DMK और CPI (M) जैसे दलों ने चुनाव आयोग को फिर अदालत में घसीट लिया। अब सुप्रीम कोर्ट में इस SIR प्रक्रिया पर बड़ी सुनवाई की शुरुआत हो गई है। जिसका असर पूरे देश में करायी जाने वाली SIR प्रक्रिया पर भी पड़ने वाला है।
