APL Apollo operates in the Steel Pipes segment. Steel pipes have many structural applications and are used in various industries. Some uses are fencing, cabling and ducting, greenhouse structures, scaffolding, Liquid transmission, underground/overground piping, refineries, steel structure (airport, metro station, etc.), etc. The major raw material used in manufacturing Electric Resistance Welded (ERW-Apl Apollo segment) is Hot Rolled coil (made from steel). Demand for ERW pipes in India is ~7.5mn MTPA which is expected to grow by 8-9% every year (in addition to the replacement demand) driven by government capex in infrastructure (conduits, support structures, fencing, railings and scaffolding in ports, stations, airports, etc.), rising residential construction as well as the rising auto demand. The per capita steel consumption in India is 74 kg as compared to the world average of 208 kg. This provides scope for growth in steel consumption in the country, which should also aid in the growth of the steel pipe industry.
