Today, Mr. Ive serves as an operating partner at the SPAC Churchill Capital Corp, which is expected to integrate with Lucid Motors by Q2 2021. Apple's greatest ambition is to make a feasible and applicable autonomous electric vehicle,which seems to be just a dream.But the tech giant’s Project Titan is back on track. According to a recent report, “Apple Inc is moving forward with self-driving car technology and is targeting 2024 to produce a passenger vehicle that could include its own breakthrough battery technology.” Apple made a statement in 2017 that it is making efforts to develop a self-driving car.It was reported that the project was “dogged by its size and by the lack of a clearly defined vision of what Apple wanted in a vehicle.” It was also mentioned that the team members protested regarding shifting priorities and arbitrary or unrealistic deadlines and that there were disagreements “about whether Apple should develop a fully autonomous vehicle or a semi-autonomous car that could drive itself for stretches but allow the driver to retake control.” Economic Daily News, a Taiwanese newspaper, citing sources within the supply chain, said the car actually could appear as early as late 2021, though that’s highly speculative and given usual automotive lead times would be extremely difficult. Nevertheless, a translated version of the story said, “In response to the demand for Apple Car sourcing, Taiwanese manufacturers…are busy. A full burst of orders.” anywhere between $11.75 billion – which is the transaction equity value – and $24 billion – the valuation based on Churchill Capital’s PIPE investments. If Apple had been really interested in acquiring Lucid Motors, it could have done so at a far significant discount just a little while back.
