Recording Drums With Contact Microphones (Piezo Pickups)

Описание: Today we're continuing the trend of wacky recording experiments with a pair of contact microphones (also known as Piezo mics or Piezo pickups) and all sorts of strange placements on the kit. I've heard this is a favorite technique of Shawn Everett, so for $10 I had to give it a try.

One thing I forgot to mention in the video: because these are picking up vibration rather than sound, they do a great job of eliminating bleed. In the tom example, the sound I got after EQing was pretty similar to a standard tom mic, but there was far less bleed, especially from cymbals.
