Potential Fluid Spaces in the Body | Pleural Cavity, Pericardial Cavity, Peritoneal Cavity:
The potential fluid space includes the pleural cavity, pericardial cavity, peritoneal cavity, and synovial cavities. The lubricant fluid in the space allows the sliding of two layers. Negative pressure inside it holds the layers together. Fluid exchange with this space occurs via the interstitium of the surrounding tissue. And in some cavities, the large lymphatics arise directly from the space.
