Experienced by millions of people in 20 countries, the Virtual Dementia Tour is used as a tool to train professional and family caregivers, staff and physicians in eldercare communities, hospitals, colleges and universities, government agencies, community leaders and first responders to help develop dementia-friendly communities on aging worldwide. Beville and VDT have been featured on ABC News “Primetime” and “Nightline,” Fox News Networks, “The Doctors” TV Show, and Headline News Network (HLN) “Raising America.” Beville donated the Virtual Dementia Tour to Second Wind Dreams as a way to continue to fund the organization’s award winning Dreams Program. To date, thousands of dreams have come true thanks largely to these proceeds. The recipient of several prestigious awards, she has been recognized by several highly respected organizations with awards including L’Oréal Paris Woman of Worth Award, the national Distinguished Service Award from LeadingAge for her contributions to the field of aging; the NBC-TV 11Alive Community Service Award for her work with residents of eldercare communities, Public Service Award from American College of Health Care Administrators, Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) Pathfinder Award, and proudly recognized as one of American Business Women’s Top Ten Business Leaders. Beville also co-authored the bestselling novel Second Wind, a humorous look at the lives of colorful residents in a fictional nursing home. In addition, she has been featured in numerous books, magazines, articles and national and international news stories about her work with Second Wind Dreams and the Virtual Dementia Tour Program.
Beville serves on the Georgia Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders (GARD) Advisory Board to develop Georgia’s portion of the National Alzheimer’s Plan. She also serves on the Dementia Action Alliance Workforce Development Committee, an organization that addresses issues that pertain to helping people with dementia and their care partners to ensuring person-centered care and support. Beville serves on the LEAD Coalition, working collaboratively to focus the nation’s strategic attention on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and to accelerate transformational progress in care and support to enrich quality of life, detection and diagnosis, and research leading to prevention, effective treatment and eventual care, and is a distinguished member of Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), National Advisory Board ElderCare Matters Alliance and American Business Women Association.
Beville holds a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Georgetown College and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University.
