Helping Students Get Job-ready Skills in the Lao People's Democratic Republic

Описание: Thousands of students across the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR)—including many from low-income families—are getting job-ready skills thanks to an ADB-funded expansion of technical and vocational colleges in the country.

Not only is it creating economic opportunities for them and their families, it’s also helping meet local business needs.

The colleges are giving young people hands‑on training in practical fields like welding, tailoring, and electrical engineering, as well as digital skills like marketing and business administration.

As the country’s economy shifts from being heavily focused on agriculture towards manufacturing, the courses are being adapted to meet the needs for new skills.

The project was funded through the Asian Development Fund—ADB’s major source of grant financing. The Fund’s resources mainly come from contributions of ADB members.
