So previously I purchased a repair kit from eBay and when I fitted the metal repair plate I noticed that the nut holding the armrest on was spinning freely which I knew this shouldn't be the case. This is one of those Ron jobs...as in later on jobs. So I finally got round to taking a look at the problem and fixing it once and for all.
