Spring 25, we visited York for the second time, and during that visit, we took the short trip out to Stillingfleet and the church of St Helens
Not only do they boast a stunning five course Norman door but also a C10th door with Viking iconography.
Now location is everything, a stones throw from Stillingfleet is Fulford. It was here the the Northern Earls Edwin and Morcar would succumb to Hardrada's army of Heathens.
Also in the area is Stamford Bridge East Riding, on the 25th September 1066, It was here that Hardrad's campaign would end.
He meets then newly crowned King of England Harold Godwinson
Three weeks on from this battle is the infamous Battle of Hastings or The battle at the Hoary apple tree (if you know mention in the comments)
