The 2022 NFL Draft in Las Vegas:
In an absolute massive NFL trade, ESPN reported that the Philadelphia Eagles traded the 18th pick and a third rounder to the Tennessee Titans for WR A.J. Brown. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles are giving Brown a four-year deal worth $100 million. The Titans used the 18th pick to select Arkansas receiver Treylon Burks. He is the sixth receiver to be selected in this year’s draft already. He is a physical mismatch with his size and can replace some of what the Titans lost when they traded A.J. Brown.
It started with Georgia edge rusher Travon Walker going first overall to the Jaguars. What followed was a slew of trades and surprise picks, including an early run on receivers and A.J. Brown being dealt to the Eagles.
The Detroit Lions selected edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson from Michigan with the No. 2 pick. Hutchinson was the Heisman Trophy runner-up last season to Alabama’s Bryce Young, recording 14 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss to lead the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff for the first time.
Houston took LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. with the third overall pick.
Cincinnati’s Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner goes fourth overall to the Jets. The Giants used the fifth pick on another edge rusher in Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux. The Carolina Panthers' 6th pick was NC State offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu.
The NY Giants added Alabama OT Evan Neal at the 7th pick. The Falcon's 8th pick was used to select USC wide receiver Drake London.
The Seahawks used the first of many picks they got in the Russell Wilson trade to draft Mississippi State offensive tackle Charles Cross. Garrett Wilson was picked by the Jets as the No. 10 pick.
Chris Olave going to New Orleans with the 11th pick. He was the player the Saints traded up to get to pair alongside another former Ohio State receiver in Michael Thomas. The Lions moved up 20 spots in a trade up with the Vikings to pick speedy Alabama receiver Jameson Williams. Despite tearing his ACL in the national championship game vs. Georgia in January, Williams, who transferred from Ohio State after the 2020 season, is considered one of the top receivers in the draft.
The Eagles took Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis with the 13th overall pick. Davis, who is 6-foot-6, 340 pounds, had one of the all-time performances at the NFL combine with a 40-yard dash time of 4.78 seconds. Davis was the anchor of the Bulldogs’ historic defense and is incredibly difficult to move because of his sheer size. The Texans' 15th pick was used to draft Texas A&M guard Kenyon Green. He is the first interior offensive lineman to be picked in this year’s draft.
