Speaker 1: Today on our 2019 Honda Ridgeline, we're going to be installing Pop & Lock's custom power tailgate lock, part number PAL8600. This power locking system's going to keep all the cargo stored in the bed of your truck, whether it's behind a inaudible 00:00:16 cover or camper shelf. No one can access it, because it's locked safe. And since this power locking system connects directly to your vehicle's factory wiring, it's going to work with your remote and everything else just as if it was part of the vehicle right from the factory.In addition to protecting the cargo that may be in the bed of your truck, it's also going to protect your tailgate from theft. This locking mechanism is going to interrupt your factory tailgate release handle, preventing it from opening the tailgate. It has a power actuator that'll move a lever that will either engage or disengage your manual lever, allowing it to either open or not open.

This is a permanently mounted option that's going to be completely hidden inside your tailgate. Since it's wired directly into your factory unlock and lock switch, you don't need any extra keys or anything.While there are other locking systems out there that require you to use a key back here at the back, this power system is going to be much easier in the dark. You don't have to worry about fumbling with that key, finding the right one on your keychain. With just the quick hit of a button, you can lock and unlock your tailgate and you're on your way. So, not only does it work with your remote, but when you lock it up here in your vehicle, it also locks your tailgate.

Additionally, when you unlock it here in your vehicle, it unlocks your tailgate. What's great about that is you don't even know that it's there, but it's there doing its job all the time. The locking mechanism is made of a corrosion-resistant durable steel, so you don't have to worry about anybody forcing your lock open, because they won't be able to.We'll begin our installation here at the back of the vehicle on our tailgate. We'll want to lower the tailgate down, and we're going to need to remove all the screws located along the top panel here with a Philips head screwdriver. We'll now want to pull this whole panel off so you can pull back and pry out with the trim panel remover tool to release this piece.

We're just going to work our way down, popping them out as we go, and just continue to pull it off. And we'll set this aside.You'll see here, all the white plastic pieces are slotted, so this whole plastic piece, we can now push over to release it. And now we can set this aside where it won't get damaged. We'll also need to remove all the bolts from the long, flat side of our tailgate, and the ones along the top. We're going to do this using a T30 torque socket.

We can now take this panel off and set it aside. We'll now remove both of the bolts located here using a 10 millimeter socket. We'll now take our mechanical locking mechanism. We're going to put it into position, and then reinstall the two bolts that we just removed.We'll now remove the 10 millimeter bolt located here, and we can install our electronic operating mechanism. This is going to slide over that component. It will twist, and this will locate right back where that bolt we removed is. Want to make sure that each of the tabs located here go on each side of our bracket there. We can then reinstall our bolt. We can now verify that it's going to work properly. We've got everything in position. Extended is going to be the unlocked position. This mechanism here is what interferes with the latching mechanism, and this'll be our locked position, as it's going to prevent this arm from moving.We can now test it out. We'll go ahead and close our tailgate, and we can open it. If we move that to the locked position, we're unable to pull the handle on either opening position. If we unlock it, we can now open our tailgate however we like. Everything's working properly. We now need to make our electrical connections.We're now going to take the shorter harness that comes in the kit. This one has two female connector ends, and one male connector end here. We're going to take this end. We're going to slide it down the opening over here. We're going to feed it down there, trying to follow our factory wiring whenever possible, and now here on the other end, we're going to make our connections fr
