Welcome to Albania! This stunning country along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas is one of the most underrated travel destinations in all of Europe, boasting hearty food, friendly locals, and breathtaking natural beauty.

In this documentary, I’m taking you to southern and southeastern Albania to explore the cities of Korce and Gjirokaster. Korce is the largest city in southeastern Albania, and is known as the “City of Serenades.” It has a thriving music and cultural scene, and is also known for its balconies, where local men would sing beautifue ballads.
 
Then, we’re heading to Gjirokaster, a UNESCO World Heritage city, which is famous for its stunning Ottoman-style houses and well-preserved Gjirokaster Castle, which dates back to at least the 12th century. Just below the castle is the Old Bazaar, where we’ll meet local stone and wood carvers and learn more about Albanian handicrafts.
 
Of course, we can’t visit these cities without diving into their food scene. From hearty trahana and pork with plum marmalade in Korce, to creamy chicken tavas in Gjirokaster, this will be a mouthwatering adventure like no other. So hang tight, grab a snack, and join me as we explore these hidden gems in southern and southeastern Albania. Let’s go!
