‘Limited-Time Route - Part 2’
This time, we are onboard NXWM route 79A, traveling from Wednesbury Parkway to West Bromwich Bus Station. This bus is 4742(BV57 XJG), an ADL Enviro400 Trident
But wait, what exactly is the 79A? Due to engineering works at Wednesbury for the Dudley extension, which is scheduled to open in late 2025 or early 2026, there is no West Midlands Metro service between Wednesbury Parkway and Edgbaston Village on the morning of Sunday, 19th January 2025. NXWM operated the 79A, practically a tram replacement service running between Wednesbury Parkway metro stop and West Bromwich Bus Station (for West Bromwich Central). Passengers could transfer to the 74 at West Bromwich for onward travel to Birmingham.
Tram tickets were valid on both the 79A and the 74 as compensation. Interestingly, nbus products were also accepted and sold on the 79A.
