Eumundi is a charming historic village nestled in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, 120 kilometres north of Brisbane and 15 kilometres from Noosa. Eumundi is known for its iconic Artisan Markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays that bring visitors worldwide to this lovely town.

However, Eumundi also has fantastic street art, a fascinating bookstore and beautiful heritage buildings to see during your visit.

We recently explored Eumundi, wandered around the Street Art Trail and visited the Berkelouw Bookshop. We enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere at the Eumundi markets and admired the many heritage buildings around the town centre.

As we wandered along Eumundi’s Street Art Trail, we saw stunning sculptures, exciting installations and brightly coloured murals. They were on buildings, down alleyways, inside cafes and bars and even on the rubbish bins.

The Berkelouw Bookshop opened in 1812 and is Australia’s oldest bookshop. When you step inside, you will see rows and rows of amazing books. They have everything from kid’s books to second-hand books to the latest best sellers. There are comfy couches to sit on as you browse through the books and lots of great gifts as well.

The Original Eumundi Markets is Australia's biggest and best artisan market, with delicious food, fantastic live entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere.

This iconic market has over 600 stalls with more than one million visitors every year. Market days are Saturdays from 7.00 am to 2.00 pm and Wednesdays from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.

Eumundi was established in 1890, and by 1900, shops started to be built, and town businesses developed.

The original Imperial Hotel was built on this site in 1911. In 1925, it was entirely destroyed by fire and was then rebuilt in 1927. Today, the Imperial Hotel is home to the Eumundi Brewery and Eumundi Distillers, and the stunning Queenslander hotel has sweeping verandahs and a sensational beer garden. It offers classic pub food, more contemporary dishes, and an extensive range of drinks.

The Old Methodist Church was built in 1911 and now houses the Eumundi Museum. Outside the building, you will see the old church bell from the St Ita Catholic Church, which closed in 1976.

Established in 1929, the CWA Hall became the venue for the inaugural Eumundi markets on the 24th of March, 1979. Two friends organized the event, featuring three stalls, attracting eight visitors, and generating $30.00 in turnover. This marked the beginning of the iconic Eumundi markets.
