🔁 Passage Narration (Definition)
Passage narration means changing a paragraph written in Direct Speech into Indirect (Reported) Speech without changing the meaning.
🧭 STEP-BY-STEP RULES
✅ STEP 1: Read the whole passage carefully
Understand who is speaking
Identify:
Speaker
Listener
Tense
Mood (statement, question, order, request)
📌 Do not narrate sentence by sentence blindly.
✅ STEP 2: Change the reporting verb
Choose correct reporting verbs according to the sentence type:

Third person → no change

Direct Speech:
The teacher said, “I am proud of you. You have done well. Keep it up.”
Step-by-step changes:
said → said
I → he
you → the students
am → was
have done → had done
Indirect Speech:
✔️ The teacher said that he was proud of the students and that they had done well and advised them to keep it up.

Direct:
Rahim said to Karim, “Where are you going now? I will go with you.”
Indirect:
✔️ Rahim asked Karim where he was going then and said that he would go with him.
