Butter Cookies (Piped / Pressed)
Ingredients
• Unsalted butter – 200 g (soft, room temperature)
• Powdered sugar (icing sugar) – 100 g
• Egg – 1 (room temperature)
• Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
• All-purpose flour – 260–280 g
• Salt – ¼ tsp
• Optional: sprinkles or sugar for topping

Method
1. Cream butter & sugar
Beat butter and powdered sugar until light, pale, and fluffy (3–4 minutes).
2. Add egg & vanilla
Mix in the egg and vanilla until fully combined.
3. Add dry ingredients
Sift flour and salt. Add gradually and mix just until a soft but pipeable dough forms.
Do not overmix.
4. Pipe cookies
Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star nozzle. Pipe onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Chill (important)
Refrigerate the piped cookies for 20–30 minutes so they keep shape.
6. Bake
• Temperature: 175°C (350°F)
• Time: 11–14 minutes
Bake until edges are light golden. Tops should stay pale.
7. Cool
Let cookies rest on tray 5 minutes, then move to a rack.
