The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) has launched an HIV awareness campaign, that aims to encourage HIV testing, educate South Africans about prevention, change the narrative around HIV stigma, and spark conversations and debate about the prevalence of HIV and its social drivers.
The campaign is in the form of round-table discussions which seek to bring engagement on HIV back to the centre of social discourse amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Today - youthful voices are expected to dominate as the discussion, under the theme: "HIV still needs our attention" gets under way at the University of Johannesburg. Issues such as stigma, depression, and psycho-social support will be unpacked by the panelists. But to tell us more about this initiative, we are now joined by Sabelo Mbuku, who is the head of Marketing and Communications at the Transport Education Training Authority.
