How can tax litigation help his senior?

It’s very important to first figure out the practice area of the firm/senior. For example, if the firm/senior practices tax litigation.

You must know the hierarchy of authorities:-

Assessing Officer
⬇️
CIT (A) [Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals)]
⬇️
ITAT [Income Tax Appellate Tribunal]
⬇️
HC [High Court]
⬇️
SC [Supreme Court]

Once you know this hierarchy, put in details and make a killer one page note for your firm/senior and showing your command over facts of the case.

First, write down the date of assessment order and what was the assessment (in short).

Second, when was it appealed to CIT (A)- the date and what was the order.

Third, when was it appealed to ITAT- the date and what was the order.

Fourth, has it reached High Court by way or writ or appeal? What’s the prayer?

I’m assuming the case has reached the High Court.

If you’re able to write this in one page and give it to your senior/firm, you’ll become indispensable for firm/senior and you're more likely to get a PPO at a firm or be accepted as a junior at a chamber.
