Chumathang- The water village of Ladakh || Changthang

Описание: Chumathang is a village in Leh District, Ladakh in northern India on the banks of the Indus River. Chumathang village is among the first villages in the Changthang region to have its own power station and government high school which was only possible under the guidance of Mr Gonbo. Famous for its hot spring which attracts many tourists all over the world, even the local people come every year to take the medicinal benefits from the hot spring. There is an old monastery or gonpa which is located near the road which is about more than 400 years old and is among the oldest monasteries of Ladakh.
I spent a week in this beautiful village and I had an amazing event experience. People are welcoming and kind . The main crop of Changthang is Barley. Which is first roasted and then grind into flour which is called Sampa . It is a main food of Changthang . Traditional old gristmill is there and in the month of August barley is harvested. I visited the hot spring of this village which is the closest hot spring from Leh . I witnessed the barley roasting. Women of village gather and do this thing . Chumathang is a village which is full of surprises. It will never fail you to show its beauty in each and every thing .
