Dr Marion Bowman, Senior Lecturer in Religious Studies, explores the different natures of what we call "Glastonbury". While the music festival is most well known, it's not actually held in Glastonbury, and there are many different elements to it including literature, dance, circus and theatre. Glastonbury reflects the varied nature of "festivals" - it is one of the most sacred sites in Britain, a place of myth and legend, the focus of pilgrimages from around the world, and its various festivals reflect the many different "Glastonburies" experienced by people.
This video forms part of our FASS Fest, taking you around different aspects of festivals across time and cultures during Covid19 lockdown.
