This is a new rip from the Breezeblock mix CD. There were lower quality versions in circulation, ripped from the original radio airing: one of them poor quality; the other having better quality but missing the final track. But this is CD quality, after I got my hands on the mix CD itself.

I've also used those radio rips to prepend Mary Anne Hobbs' introduction from when she originally played it, including the same length of silence. I wanted to try and replicate the same vibes you'd get from the original listen.

Like every other mix Various made, this one features an unreleased track. This one's called "Safe Beat" and it starts at 19:40.

This is Mary Ann Hobbs. BBC radio 1. We're with you 'til 3 o'clock this morning.

And I have to confess, there is a really lovely, kinda warm glow in my heart tonight. Principally because our very special guest on the show are Various Production. And, you know what, I just love the fact that absolutely everything his crew put together is so exquisite: the beats, their websites, their artwork -- every single aspect of what they do has the touch of a band who really do care deeply about creating something so special, so breathtakingly beautiful.

I have to confess, it's almost impossible to source any information about them at all. All I have are a bunch of shady rumours! But I hear, there are two of them, and they're actually from London. It's said that they work as studio engineers, and one of them occasionally operates as Fathom. But they could just as easily breed butterflies on Venus, I think, this pair.

There's a debut album dropping in August, but they're in with us tonight to celebrate their release of their wonderful new single. It's called 'In This', it features the vocals of MX VEX, and we have hammered it on this show.
