Every day, the cow gave them a little milk to drink and sell for money to buy rice and vegetables. Jack was a lazy but kind and dreamy boy, while his mother toiled tirelessly from dawn till dusk.

• One beautiful morning, the dairy cow stopped producing milk. It lay silently in its shed, old and weak. Jack's mother sat sadly on the porch, sighing deeply. She looked at Jack and said, "Son, we are so poor. Take the cow to the market and sell it. Try to get a good price so we can have money to buy food to survive."
