The Department of Poultry production has been established in June, 2003 with the main objectives of education / Training of students to cater the needs of poultry industry through enhancing egg and meat production in the country. The Department also conducts problem oriented applied research by the students and faculty to solve the problems of stakeholders. The department also has a close liaison with the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) and leading poultry farmers, breeders, poultry feed millers and hatchery men and has formulated a Poultry Working Group in order to discuss problems faced by poultry industry and formulation of viable strategies. Currently, this department is offering BS (Hons.) Poultry Science (04 years) degree, in addition to 04 courses being offered to DVM degree having 11 credit hours; Introduction to Poultry Production, Poultry Breeding and Hatchery Management, Poultry Housing & Environment and Poultry Farm Operations and recently started diploma course after Matriculation named Poultry Assistant Diploma. The Department is also offering M. Phil and Ph.D. Degree programmes at post graduate level.
