More Than Convenience is an 11-minute documentary about the Alberta Corner Store that served the Ramsay neighbourhood of Calgary for nearly 123 years. More than a store, this is the story about how one family became the heart of a community and helped build something unique and deeply human.
If you have ever longed to live in a time and place where we connected deeply and our interactions were more relational than transactional... the Alberta Corner Store was one of the last and best ones we had.
More Than Convenience played at the Edmonton International Film Festival, Anchorage International Film Festival, Annual Copenhagen Film Festival, Stockholm City Film Festival, and Third Culture International Film Festival in New Zealand.
Clarification/Correction: Before the Kim family bought The Alberta Corner Store it was owned by Henry Cook who ran it for approximately 40 years (1930s-1970s) along with his son and wife.
