Every year for National Apprenticeship Week we take the opportunity to support our local area by organising “Pendennis Apprentice Community Week”, where our apprentices work in the local community, volunteering their time and skills to organisations in need of a helping hand. This helps to develop their project management and leadership skills and as you can see in this video, is rewarding in so many ways for everyone involved.
We’re committed to developing well-rounded and skilled individuals and as part of our training schemes we offer a wide array of extra-curricular activities and opportunities to help our apprentices to learn outside of the shipyard; these include sailing and powerboating lessons and completing the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
This year, the projects that our apprentices volunteered their time to included: Kennall Vale Primary School, The Garden Pre School, Falmouth Gig Club, Blind At Sea, Falmouth Cricket Club and Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske).
Well done to everyone involved, it was another successful Apprentice Community Week!
