At the November 8, 2025 meeting of the Columbus Astronomical Society, member,Isaac Cruz shares his experience traveling to Australia to enjoy the southern skies from the clear, dark, and dry air of the not-quite-outback. (Issac is an avid astrophotographer, the organizer of the CAS Imaging SIG, CASIS and shares some of the astrophotos he took down under.
A great opportunity for enjoying the skies would be to take advantage of the July 22, 2028 total solar eclipse, which crosses Australia from northwest to southeast giving more than five minutes of totality in places.
