Her high-born cheekbones spake of Brittany

I. A marvel too was seen in Deirdre’s face,
Her nose long, straight, a noble line of pride,
Sufficing well to meet whate’er might trace
The coming doom—Destruction, or a guide of Solace wide.
Her lips, half-open, alabaster rare,
So perilous, so costly in their art;
Lips wrought for kissing, fashioned to ensnare,
And ever to be kissed by yearning heart.

II. Beneath that mouth her maiden chin was shown,
Square-set, yet graced with dimple’s gentle spell,
A certain sign that beauty claimed its own,
And harmony within her presence dwelt.
Her high-born cheekbones spake of Brittany,
Of Britain’s distant tale and ancient song;
Her skin, her hands, as snow new-fallen lie,
White as the winter’s first descent, so strong.

III. Yet all his counsel faltered at her stand,
For there she stayed, with mystery arrayed;
Whether of dust, or snowy skin unmanned,
She lingered, sovereign, like Maeve displayed.
Better had he a circle drawn in sand,
And stood within its guarded, sacred bound,
Than face that White Dame’s rapt, ensnaring hand,
That bore men forth where none are ever found.

ROMANCE DE LA PRIMERA MUERTE DE THOMAS RHYMER (TRILOGIA. VOLUMEN II) © Jean de Bresson

MEDIEVAL- MODERN POETRY & MUSIC. Jean de Bresson, creates lyrical and visionary works where myth, memory, and sound converge. His poems and sung ballads act as bridges—between history and the present, language and music, the visible and the unseen. Each piece resonates with echoes of troubadours, sagas, and crusade songs, while unfolding in the voices of today. Presented in Spanish, English, and Icelandic/Old Norse, his creations weave the ancient and the modern into one tapestry. Poetry is revelation: an invitation into a labyrinth of hidden meanings where faith, wonder, and imagination dwell.
