I hear the strike is holding up travel... and many ticket holders are affected?
The strike, extending into its second day now, has disrupted the travel plans of some 425-thousand people.
Lufthansa Airlines says it had to cancel 38-hundred flights because of the three-day walk-off, that runs through Friday.
The airline warned its customers of the strike... and is helping people book flights on other airlines.
Lufthansa says it's likely to cost the company tens of millions of U.S. dollars.
However, the pilots' union... believes... it's a small price to pay.
"When you look at the economic damage, it is rather small. There are 200 airlines in Germany and Lufthansa is just one of them. There is also Deutsche Bahn and I believe that especially the 'Cockpit' union has been very hesitant about strikes so far. Over the past ten years, Lufthansa pilots went on strike for exactly one day."
The pilots are mainly demanding for the reinstatement of an early retirement deal.
Lufthansa says it would be willing to come back to the bargaining table, if the union can come up with a better offer. Jihae.
