Beginning around 7,000 years ago, civilizations in the Pacific Northwest of North America undertook some of the most profound cultural and economic changes in their history. From choosing to become more sedentary, the creation of villages, formalization of trade-networks, growing wealth disparities, more complex economies and the elaboration of political, religious and ritual systems, this time period is a fascinating one! This video gives an overview of some of our favorite archaeological evidence for what was happening during this time and even why we see the changes roughly between 7,000-,4000 years ago.
