Joan of Arc was a teenager in a poor French village, back in the 15th century. She could barely sign her own name, and she was destined (like all the other girls) to be a wife, mother, or perhaps a holy sister in a convent somewhere. But Joan heard voices. Those voices told her she had a different destiny: she would be a soldier, a warrior. Everyone laughed at her, but she was fierce in her belief. And she did lead France's armies in victory over the invading English. She refused to let others decide her destiny.
