This year we spent Christmas cruising — choosing experiences and time together over gifts and decorations. Our first port stop was Cozumel, Mexico, and instead of booking cruise excursions, we decided to explore on our own.
We rented a car, split the cost with friends, and headed to the wild east side of the island to visit Punta Sur Ecological Park. From quiet lagoons and crocodiles to panoramic lighthouse views, calm white-sand beaches, and incredible snorkeling over a healthy reef, this ended up being one of our favorite cruise port days ever.
