New series of conversations with some of the finest young composers and performers from Singapore to chat about their lives, inspiration, and their music. I'm happy to welcome an old friend and a phenomenal hornist, Alexander Oon. We'll be talking about how he got bitten by the new music bug 🐞, his transformative summer at Lucerne Festival Academy, and also unboxing some wonderful music by Bertram Wee, Mikel Urquiza, and the Austrian doyen Friedrich Cerha.
Alexander Oon (b.1992) currently holds the position of Principal Horn with the Sun Symphony Orchestra, Hanoi. Prior to that, he completed his Master of Performance studies and graduated with a Distinction at the Royal College of Music in 2018. Alexander was one of two joint winners for the RCM Contemporary Competition, and he was chosen to be a part of the prestigious Lucerne Festival Academy, which focuses on modern music.
