Local Protest demarcating boundaries for the proposed Adani thermal power

Описание: Tensions escalated in the Tipkai-Paglijhora Part-II area under the Parbhatjhora subdivision of Kokrajhar district, as a large group of indigenous Bodo families staged a protest against an ongoing eviction drive linked to a thermal power project under development by Adani Power in collaboration with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).

The administration try to begin demarcating boundaries for the proposed Adani thermal power terminal from June 11. However, residents of the area have strongly resisted the move, alleging that the land falls under the Sixth Schedule and should be protected from such industrial encroachments.

Protesters gathered with banners " Sixth Schedule Area no Allowed, Adani Company go back and Pramod Boro go Back, voicing anger at both the Adani Group and the BTR government. Demonstrators accused the local authorities of ignoring their rights and livelihood concerns, fearing displacement without proper consultation or rehabilitation.

No official statement has yet by the BTR government regarding the protests.
